  2. The Carlyle Letters Online

The Carlyle Letters Online, hosted by Duke University Press, offers a comprehensive digital archive of the collected letters of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle. This resource provides scholars and the public with access to thousands of letters, facilitating research into 19th-century British intellectual and literary life.

The project is based on the Duke-Edinburgh edition of The Collected Letters of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle and is designed to be a fully searchable, user-friendly, and nonproprietary scholarly tool. It aims to eventually integrate with other digital humanities resources, enhancing its utility for academic research.

The archive includes correspondence with influential figures of the era, offering insights into the social, political, and cultural contexts of the time. As of the latest update, the project is nearing completion, with the forthcoming publication of the concluding volume 50, marking the culmination of nearly three-quarters of a century of dedicated effort.
