What is the ADE?
The ADE was created in 1978 to promote documentary editing through the cooperation and exchange of ideas among the community of editors.
About
The primary foci of documentary editing traditionally have been historical and literary figures and now encompass a range of subjects: sciences, medicine, philosophy, religion, and the arts.
Scholarly Editing
The ADE’s premier journal in the field of documentary and textual editing, Scholarly Editing: The Annual of the Association for Documentary Editing is an open-access, digital publication.
Annual Meeting
The Association for Documentary Editing (ADE) will meet in Buffalo, New York, June 20-22, 2024. We hope to see you there!

Education
The Education Committee of the ADE is responsible for coordinating the several educational initiatives of the ADE, including but not limited to developing educational opportunities online and resources to help member projects reach new audiences.

The American Founding Era Collection
The American Founding Era Collection is an integrated research environment that covers the correspondence of a number of key figures from America’s founding era. Beginning with the Dolley Madison Digital Edition and the Papers of George Washington Digital Edition, Rotunda formed a collection which incorporates completed and in-progress documentary editions from several editorial projects focusing on the American Founding Era. Readers are able to search and browse documents from all projects in one single place.
