The Adams Papers Editorial Project is a collaborative initiative by the Massachusetts Historical Society to collect, edit, and publish the manuscripts written and received by the Adams family of Quincy, Massachusetts. Established in 1954, the project encompasses a vast array of documents, including letters, diaries, and autobiographies, spanning from the 17th to the 19th centuries. The editorial team employs rigorous scholarly standards to ensure accurate transcriptions and comprehensive annotations, providing valuable insights into the political, social, and personal lives of one of America’s most influential families. The project has produced nearly 60 letterpress volumes, many of which are freely accessible online through the Adams Papers Digital Edition.
