The Papers of James Monroe is a documentary editing project based at the University of Mary Washington. The project aims to collect, edit, annotate, and publish the correspondence and other writings of James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States. By making these materials accessible, the project provides valuable insights into Monroe’s political career, his role in early American diplomacy, and his contributions to the nation’s development. The project is supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
