The William Blake Archive is a pioneering digital humanities project, launched in 1994 with its initial public site debuting in 1996. Co-sponsored by the Library of Congress, UNC Chapel Hill, and the University of Rochester, the platform offers high-fidelity digital reproductions of William Blake’s illuminated manuscripts, engravings, paintings, and poetic works.
Designed as a scholarly digital edition, the Archive allows users to compare variants of Blake’s works, explore editorial commentary, and navigate images using tools like the Virtual Light Box. It provides extensive bibliographic context and educational support, and has been peer-reviewed as a robust teaching and research resource.
