Resolution of Appreciation to the Journal of American History

The Association for Documentary Editing proclaims this Resolution of Appreciation to the Journal of American History in acknowledgment of its vital support in the field of documentary editing.

WHEREAS: The work of documentary editors is an essential part of the scholarly work of the historical profession and

WHEREAS the publication of scholarly editions in both letterpress and digital formats provides all those engaged in historical research with crucial access to the sources on which historical interpretation is based and

WHEREAS the Journal of American History has recently resumed reviewing scholarly documentary editions, calling the attention of historians and others to these valuable resources through its publication of reviews

THEREFORE the Association for Documentary Editing commends the Journal of American History for its valuable service to the historical profession and thanks the editors of the Journal for providing members of the Association with an important peer review of the work that we do.
