The North Carolina Office of Historical Digital Publications (MosaicNC.org) is seeking an editor for the North Carolina Civil War Records Project.

This full-time permanent position serves as the digital publications editor of the Civil War Records for the Office of Archives and History, building on the sixty-plus years of work by the North Carolina Civil War Roster Project. The Civil War Records Editor functions as a historian and editor of two separate but complimentary digital projects. This position works to share the meaning and value of the state’s Civil War records and the service of those North Carolinians who served in the Civil War by analyzing primary sources, collecting historical data, researching and explaining primary findings, creating metadata as appropriate, and preparing accompanying interpretive materials. Documents from North Carolina’s Civil War era, as well as transcriptions, biographies, and accompanying exhibits are hosted on MosaicNC.org. This project also makes a searchable database of fully researched service records of North Carolina’s Civil War veterans available on the DNCR website.  Applicants should be comfortable working on constructing a digital database of historical material for a public audience.

Please note this position is fully funded by the state legislative budget and is not subject to federal funding or grants
