Call for Papers – The Society for Textual Scholarship 2022
The Society for Textual Scholarship 2022 conference will be hosted by Loyola University Chicago May 26-28, with the theme of “Cultural Mappings.” We seek to explore the multivalent ways that mapping as a mode of inquiry and a methodological tool in the field of textual scholarship makes visible the meanings of cultural heritage and contributes to our affective experience of emplacement. Please see the STS website (https://textualsociety.org/2022-sts-conference-cfp/) for a full description of the conference, session types, plenaries, and keynote speakers, along with guidelines for submitting a proposal. In light of the difficulties posed by the omicron covid variant, we have extended the proposal deadline to February 1. The conference committee will be considering the logistics of a fully or partially hybrid conference in coming weeks.
We are also delighted to announce the opening of a survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/STSnext) intended to gather information about the needs, interests, and pursuits of textual scholars, editors, and those in adjacent fields, as we plan for a sustainable future for the organization. The survey should take 10-20 minutes to complete—only a few questions are required, but we want to get as much input as you are able to provide—and will remain open until February 20. Should all conferences be hybrid going forward? Do you submit your work to Textual Cultures? How should we make the Society more diverse, equitable, and inclusive? We want to know… so we need to hear from you.
