The Papers of the Revolutionary Era Pinckney Statesmen digital edition is pleased to announce that Dr. Marty Matthews has joined us this month as an Associate Editor. Dr. Matthews received his PhD from the University of South Carolina in American History in 2001. His dissertation on Charles Pinckney, one of the three statesmen who are the subjects of our edition, was published by the University of South Carolina Press in 2004 as The Forgotten Founder, the Life and Times of Charles Pinckney. While working on his PhD, he served on the staff of the Model Editions Partnership under David Chesnutt, an initiative which played an early role in the developing of standards for creating digital scholarly editions. Dr. Matthews comes back to USC from the North Carolina Division of State Historic Sites and Properties, where since 2006 he was been the historian and content advisor for 24 state owned and operated historic sites. He has taught as an adjunct professor of history at North Carolina State University since 2011.
